Spotify has allied with Sony Music Group, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Merlin, and Believe to develop AI-powered music tools. While specifics remain undisclosed, the streaming giant is committing significant resources to AI research, including a dedicated lab and product team. Co-president Gustav Söderström likened AI's disruptive potential to the smartphone revolution, emphasizing creator-centric innovation.

The platform already tests AI features like its DJ and playlist generator, which crafts custom collections based on text prompts. Industry leaders, however, voice concerns over AI misuse. Universal Music's Lucian Grainge explicitly opposes licensing systems that replicate artists' voices or compositions without consent.
